Otherwise known as the Small Business Liability Relief and Brownfield Revitalization Act, passed by congress in 2001. The act allows for the expansion, redevelopment, or reuse of real property which may be complicated by the presence or potential presence of a hazardous substance, pollutant, or contaminant. The motivation behind this act is to encourage remediation and reinvestment in these properties, thereby protecting the environment, reducing blight, and taking development pressures off green-spaces and working lands.
